The Langabhat Track is a there-and-back path, from the main road to Loch Langabhat, about 3.5 miles long. It was a beautiful sunny, but windy day in July when I walked the track.

A large blue sign mounted on a cattle gate marks the beginning of the walk, use the style to the left and begin your walk up the hill. The well maintained 4x4 track is easy to follow as you climb your way higher and higher. There are highland cows and sheep grazing in this area so be cautious and make sure to stick to the path. After about 30-45 minutes, you will reach the highest point of this walk, take a moment here to catch your breath, have a drink, and take in the views before continuing down the track. To your left, the rugged sheer cliff of Liuthaid is towering into the sky, with the hills of Beinn a’ Mhuil and Kearnaval to your right. As you head down, the large Loch Langabhat comes into view.

At the Loch, a small gravel beach is the perfect place to enjoy some lunch and dip your feet into the cool water. Take your time here and enjoy the quiet, being surrounded by the most beautiful mountains. Frequent butterflies and bumblebees visit the heather and birds dip in and out of the landscape.

The beginning of the return journey with the craggy cliff face looming on the horizon.

After resting your feet and taking in the scenery, return the way you came. On the final descent, there are amazing views over the mountains and Loch Seaforth. Be sure to take your time on the way down as the stone path can be loose in places.

Side note - the phone signal on this track is basically none existent, there is a very small amount just past the highest point, but I would not rely on this, so please let someone know where you are going and your expected return time in case of emergency.

I really recommend this walk as a lovely hike to see a beautiful loch, and taking under 4 hours, it is a really nice shorter hike for when you visit the Outer Hebrides.
