Travelling Through Pakistan: A Journey of a Lifetime

Pakistan is a country that has often been overlooked by travellers due to its tumultuous past. However, it is a country that has so much to offer to those who are willing to take the plunge and explore it. I recently had the opportunity to travel through Pakistan, with backpacking youTuber Christianne Risman, and it was an experience that will stay with me for a lifetime. We had such a wonderful time exploring this diverse and culturally rich country that I would recommend anyone wanting a true adventure to visit.

The Landscapes
Pakistan is a country that is blessed with natural beauty. From the towering peaks of the Himalayas in the north to the stunning beaches in the south, there is something for every type of traveller. One of the highlights of my trip was driving the Karakoram Highway and hiking to the base camp of Nanga Parbat, the 7th tallest mountain in the world. The landscape is ever changing, from the dry desert regions of the South, the flat grasslands of Punjab, to the rugged mountains of Gilt-Baltistan, Pakistan has it all.

The Food
The food in Pakistan is a delight for the senses. From the succulent kebabs to the spicy curries, Pakistani cuisine is a fusion of flavours that will tantalize your taste buds. One of the must-try dishes is biryani, a fragrant rice dish that is loaded with flavour and spices. As a vegetarian, I found it challenging in some smaller restaurants, but almost every menu had curried vegetables, flatbread and dahl, so I was always full at the end of the meal.

The People
The people of Pakistan are some of the kindest and most hospitable people I have ever met. Despite the negative portrayal that Pakistan gets in the media, the locals are always willing to lend a helping hand and make sure that you are comfortable. They take pride in their country and are always eager to show travellers the beauty of their land. Throughout the whole trip, every person I talked with was kind, respectful and full of smiles for our group.

The Culture
Pakistan has a rich and diverse culture that is steeped in history. From the ancient ruins of Mohenjo-Daro to the Mughal architecture of Lahore, there is something for those who have an interest in history and culture. The locals take great pride in their traditions and are always eager to share them with travellers. I only travelled the northern regions, but there is so much history and culture to see and explore throughout every region of Pakistan.

Travelling through Pakistan was an experience that exceeded all my expectations. It is a country that has so much to offer and is often overlooked by travellers. If you are looking for a destination that will challenge your perceptions and leave you in awe, then Pakistan is the place to be.

So, pack your bags and get ready for a journey of a lifetime!
